The McHenry Township Phones For Life Program provides senior citizens and persons with special needs a vital life line to critical care. This includes residents with a heightened need for emergency communication who cannot afford cellular phone service.
An emergency cell phone provides portable communication so that they can carry it with them in the backyard; while shopping; or driving in their cars and in an emergency, the help they need is a phone call away.
Residents living in zip codes 60050, 60051, 60072, and 60097 can obtain an application at the McHenry Township Office. Fill out and return the application; you will be contacted to receive a phone. Participants will receive a free cell phone which can dial only 911 for police, fire or medical emergency assistance. Instruction on how to use the cell phone will be provided.
The phones are donated by local residents and businesses. These donations provide participants with a vital life line for critical care. To provide 911 service for someone in need drop off used cell phones at the McHenry Township Office. Phones must be in working condition and with a charger.
