Thanks to Bill Murray and the "Groundhog Day" movie, which was filmed in Woodstock in 1992. Woodstock celebrates with "Lighting of the Groundhog", woodcarving demonstration, chili cook-off, dinner/dance and auction, a walking tour of filming sites, breakfast and Woodstock Willie's prognostication. Woodstock residents and visitors will have two markets to enjoy this summer! Every Thursday and Saturday on the Square, beginning in mid-May through October, shop one of the county's only authentic markets for organically, locally-grown produce, flowers, baked goods, potpourri, homade peanut brittle and other goodies. A hometown celebration, thingy Tracy Days includes a band concert, family-oriented block party on Main Street, entertainment and more. The celebration's grand finale is the Sunday Parade at 1 pm and spectacular Drum and Bugle Corps competition between nationally recognized groups at 6 pm. (815) 338-2436

7/17 Woodstock Folk Festival Folk, blues, Latin and Celtic tunes, and storytelling, too, will ring out at the Nineteenth Annual Woodstock Folk Festival. Also featuring a Children's Area, Open Mike Stage, and Story Stage (in the air conditioned space of Starbucks!). Hours: 12:30 pm to 6:00 pm, rain or shine. 9/18 OLD-FASHIONED HARVESTFEST/ FIDDLERS CONTEST & FAIR IN THE SQUARE CRAFT SHOW
A day long celebration, the 10th annual HarvestFest features a farmer's market, old-time craftspeople including weavers, spinners and quilters, vintage farm equipment, blacksmithing, woodworking, wagon rides, children's activities and a fiddlers contest for youth and adults. Also, the Fair In The Square craft show featuring crafters from all over the Midwest will sell their original, hand-crafted wares. Hours: 10 am to 5 pm. Come see a collection of holiday decorated trees on exhibit in the Opera House. Trees are provided by local organizations, club, and groups each uniquely decorated for the holiday season. Free to the public, Monday through Saturday 9am to 5pm.
