Chief Kottke is leaving soon. Anyone know who is vying for the new chief position? Ha ve not heard anything in the papers or around town.

MARENGO The city of Marengo this week appointed its new police chief to replace riring Chief Les Kottke.
Martin Podosek, who serves as the police chief of Harwood Heights, will be sworn i uring the March 23 Marengo City Council meeting.
Mayor Donald Lockhart interviewed at least five candidates, including Podosek, foe job.
Podosek has been in law enforcement for 30 years. The Wheaton resident has served inseveral positions, including street officer, commander and chief.
During his five years as Harwood Heights police chief, Podosek has developed morean $1 million in grants for equipment, training and programs.
Podosek trained with the Southern Police Institute of the University of Louisvs well as the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command. He is a mer
Kottke will retire from the Marengo Police Department on March 20. He has served ats chief since August 2004.

Isn't that where Scott Crawford was hired then fired from? Now we are getting anothe police chief moron? How did he developed more than $1 million in grants? Not legally .

Hopefully, this new guy realizes that he's coming to a smaller town with a diffe set of problems. Over the years, Harwood Heights got to be known as 'Hardguy Heights because
the local police were somewhat more gung-ho than was necessary.
Those that cannot remember the past are
condemned to repeat it.

I thought there was good internal candidate's. Were they not even considered?
Who made the choice to hire this outside candidate and on what criteria?
