Marengo Gasoline Prices

WOW! ... What's happening to the old Gas Station industry in Marengo? Road Ranger moves in and gives a 'competitive price' for a gallon of gasoline ($1.69 without car wash) and knocks the price that the other 3 older establishments (Shell, Mobil & Marathon) have been charging. Which was $1.95 per gallon. It must have caused mayhem among the older three, since they then dropped their prices to match Road Ranger. Now Road Ranger took another 'cut' to $1.59 and I'll bet the 'older three' cranking their phones to each other, wondering what to do. Keep it up Road Ranger - 'they' need to be shook up.

As of 2:00 this afternoon, Road Ranger was charging $1.69 for regular with car wash and $1.89 without car wash. I guess the lower prices were only intended to catch a few of the early morning commuters. At that same time, the other stations were at $1.95 for regular. Don't get your hopes up. A gas price war is not likely. They know they've got us by the short hairs and they're not likely to let go.

You're right, Nala, the gasoline price 'bubble' had dun-gone n' busted. It sure didn't take long for them all to get back to what they were charging before. I guess I'll still have to go out of McHenry County and over to Belvidere-Boone County, to fill'er up. Oh, well - it was interesting while it lasted.
