Noticed a few days ago that the former Mef's restaurant is about to become a Panda Buffet. Seems a strange choice, but I hope it is good and that it is successful. I remember many years ago when Clearview was there. A great Chinese restaurant. I don't care much for buffets, though

Was Clearview before or after Tongs? When I moved here in 1992 it was Tongs. I liked the chinese food there at the time. Hopefully this restaurant will last longer then the last few.

Clearview was before Tong's. I moved here in 1980 and it was Clearview then.

I can answer my own post. Finally got around to going to Panda Buffet. Was not at all happy. Workers barely speak English, but worse, i got ill quickly after eating. Don't know what caused the illness, but obviously something on the buffet. I don't see this place being around very long.

I ate there and had the buffet. Knock on wood - no problems health wise. I thought it was okay; there are better Chinese buffets out there (personally, I like King Buffet in Crystal Lake). The people I was with ordered off the menu. They were happy with their food. Generous portions and a reasonable price. Fair amount of people in there (this was on a weekend early evening). Having said that, I think that they have an uphill battle to keep in business. It is a tough location to have a restaurant and I am not sure that they are better and/or different enough to succeed when so many others at that location have not.
