Who has heard of the McHenry County Council Of Governments? I haven’t until very recently. What the MCCG is, is a committee of some sort, that consists of every single Mayor and Village President in McHenry County. Yes, every single one. From Trout Valley to McCullom Lake to Mayor Lockhart of Marengo.
Here is what they spend. Take a look:
Fiscal Year 2006-2007 Financial Report
FY07 was the first full fiscal-year budget developed for the organization and as such, little
history for budgeted revenues and expenditures existed for the organization. Therefore,
actual revenues and expenditures were higher than originally budgeted for. The ending
balance for FY07 shows excess revenues of $12,640 over expenditures resulting in an overall
fund balance of $64,192.

FY 07 Surplus / (Deficit) B-$14,692 A-$12,640
Fund Balance B-$66,243 A-$64,192
Is it just me? Or do you maybe think that $8,230 spent on golf outings is a bit too much? It must of been one of those girl topless ones. How about travel expenses? This is, after all, a county where it hardly will take more than an hour to drive from one end to the other. $1,477?? I can understand, perhaps, money spent on postage and printing and copying. And am rather amazed that compared to golf outings, so little money was spent on either equipment, supplies, or computer software. I guess we can congratulate the MCCG on spending only $200 on computers when they spent over $24,400 on meals and meetings!! That’s right, look above, $24,400. I wonder what they ate? They didn’t eat at The Knoll, that’s for sure, not with these kind of expenses. And were THAT many personal services needed? Over $45,000 worth of services!
